About:

Transgender empowerment encompasses their enhanced social and economical spheres. It is a Major Project undertaken in the roof of The Sai Sawli Trust. The Central and the State government has always focused on the eradication of poverty, unemployment and gender inequality, but still the transgenders are not in the limelight. Transgender empowerment is an unfinished business of the government. Recently Indian Supreme Court has acknowledged transgender people as the third gender by amendment of Indian constitution. By this amendment this third gender community will have their scheduled quota in job and educational institutions and they will be able to select their sex as a third gender. But still the studies on the present condition of transgenders show that the many of them earn their livelihood by singing and dancing, begging at the signals or prostitution which is neither hygienic nor safe for their life. To earn their own identity and be a part of the mainstream of the society Swayam Sidha works on projects like Bag Making, Soap Making, Interior Decorative Item production etc. These items would be completely handmade by transgenders and are sold on retail and whole sale basis. The focus would be on designing beautiful handicrafts by utilizing the principle of BEST OUT OF WASTE. Swayam Sidha also aims at working for abandon women and empower them.
